A BRIEF HISTORY of FORT SMALLWOOD VFW POST 2462
May 1962, planning initiated to start a VFW Post in Pasadena.
Post 2462 was officially chartered by the VFW National organization on the 14th of May 1963.
The 7.6 acres of land on which the Post building stands was purchased on 20 March 1968 for $8,750.
The current structure was completed in late 1978 at a cost of $125,000 and approved for occupancy in January 1979.
The monthly Post meetings were held at the following locations prior to 1979:
- Danny's Tavern 1963
- Woodland Beach Inn 1964
- Sportsman Club 1965 - 1972
- American Legion Post 277 1972 - 1973
- Waldecker's Bayside Inn/Bayview Lounge 1973 - 1976
- Woodland Beach Inn 1976 - 1978
